Unlike last year, I did not attempt to chase the last sunset of 2015 and the first sunrise of 2016. I spent most of my time in bed. I met some of my friends though on January 2, strolled along Enoshima Beach and waited for the sun to set. It was freezing but, strangely, relaxing.
Simple Joy
seeing the sky paints
blue to pastel to abstract
winter afternoon
a child flies his kite
above the clouds, with his dreams
winter afternoon
a pair in barefoot
dances around sandcastles
winter afternoon
my camera clicks
in harmony with the waves
winter afternoon

This was our first shoot in 2016 and we couldn't ask for more. Why? Because Fuji-san showed-off her majesty against the colorful skies. Perfect way to start our year in photography. I may have seen Mt. Fuji thousand times but I am still in awe. It exudes different auras, like it has hundreds of personas.
Photography and poetry (I call them phoetry together) always give me joy. My hope for 2016 is to shoot and write more. I just ordered a Matsuo Basho book and patiently waiting for it to arrive. I want to perfect the art of writing haikus. When it comes to photography, I want to go to places I’ve never been to yet. Or to explore the instax camera I won during our year-end party.
How about you? What are your plans this 2016?
Happy New Year Everyone!

DeleteSometimes it is good to stroll towards the sun rather than chase after it..perhaps going a bit slower allows us to see a little more...loved the echo of the boy playing with his kite..perhaps a nod to your younger self? As ever beautiful words and image..
ReplyDeleteCould be me Jae. I agree, we usually rush on every thing that we do thus we forgot to see and appreciate some of the beautiful things around us.
